Salisbury Beach House – Salisbury Beach, MA
The Salisbury Beach Comfort Stations are three buildings, all similar to the one depicted above, located in environmentally sensitive areas within the Salisbury State Reservation. The project required extreme sensitivity and attention to erosion control and protection of endangered vegetation. Additionally, the project schedule occurred throughout the facilities peak usage periods, requiring continual care to pedestrian and vehicular safety. Unique construction methods included: deep-set foundations below the water table constructed to withstand extreme hydrostatic pressure, all framing and exterior finishes designed and constructed to withstand hurricane force conditions and an elevated framing design which allows wind-driven sand to pass under the structure to prevent unnatural dune formation.
